Ethair Market Taxes
Each country and jurisdiction in the world have their taxing system which includes consumer purchases that are done on Ethair Market. The taxes can be included at the different stages of the purchase of each item as it depends on multiple factors such as seller’s status, item’s location, and delivery address.
When you sell on Ethair, you’re responsible for complying with all the applicable tax laws.
Ethair Market offers access (“My Account” tab) to each seller showing the sales tax collected and remitted in that seller’s name.
Some groups and organizations qualify as tax-exempt from sales tax and may make purchases without paying for the sales tax. In order to apply for Exemption, please check here
Deliveries to a United States address
Ethair responsibilities refer to duties Ethair has as marketplace facilitator, and where required by law is required to collect sales tax in the name of the sellers. We only collect sales tax in the name of the sellers where we have reached “economic nexus”, as defined by applicable state law in a particular state. If we have not reached an economic nexus, we will not be collecting sales taxes until the economic nexus is met. Update: Currently Ethair is voluntarily collecting sales tax in the name of sellers in all states where applicable. This means that sellers do not need to enter sale tax rates as those are calculated collected and remitted by Ethair on all transactions.
If both Ethair nor the seller are required to collect the taxes on your purchase you may be required to pay the taxes directly to the present tax authorities yourself. For additional information on tax requirements, our recommendation is to consult with your tax advisor.
Seller is responsible for paying all fees and taxes associated with using Ethair Market. If the shipping address isn't in one of the Ethair Market responsibility states, the seller has the responsibility to charge the sales tax.
A seller that operates on Ethair’s marketplace as well on other platforms/marketplaces and has cumulatively reached an individual state’s economic nexus threshold where Ethair market has not will need to operate according to that state’s sales tax laws and remit sales tax on their own. Sellers can use our platform to calculate sales tax amounts.
For additional information on tax requirements, our recommendation is to consult with your tax advisor.
Cryptocurrency made purchases
Sales tax for the items purchased with cryptocurrency is collected and remitted in the same way as transactions are for fiat currency. Ethair Market is not responsible for the calculation of any cryptocurrency-related investment tax, income tax, or similar, such as capital gains or losses on the conversion or disposition of cryptocurrency made on our platform. Sellers are solely responsible for reporting every taxable event such as transaction, and the remittance of tax thereof to any federal, state, or local taxing authority, from the conversion or disposition of cryptocurrency on our platform. For additional information on tax requirements, our recommendation is to consult with your tax advisor.
Deliveries to overseas buyers
When the shipping address is from outside the US, local import fees, taxes, and customs duties will be applied to the item on entry. Buyers are solely responsible for paying import fees as well as informing themselves on the actual rates and tariffs imposed by the local government.
The seller should make sure that the international buyers know this before the purchase.
Ethair’s sales tax exemption
Users can apply for sales tax exempt status as long as they hold a valid sales tax exempt certificate in their state. The exempt system requires upload of exempt certificate and state form as required by each state, as well as expiration date. Exempt status confirmation may take up to 7 business days. Once approved user will be able to check mark specific items in cart that meet the requirement of exemption for that user.
